Remember those classic horror films that we used to stay up for years ago. From classic British horror Films by Hammer studios, such as Dracula, The Curse Of The Werewolf, among others, to the portmanteau films
of Amicus. Tigon studios also made a few entries to those collection of classic horror films with their stylish efforts.
Hammer Films
Hammer Films, first founded in 1934, were most famous for their series of gothic horror films made from the 1950's to
the 1970's. They made the film actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee household names. Notable films include, Dracula(1958),
The Curse of Frankenstein(1957), and The Devil Rides Out(1968).
Since producing its last notable film, To the Devil a Daughter, in 1976, it was announced that a Dutch producer John De Mol had
purchased the Hammer Films rights.
Amicus Films
Amicus films were made by a British film company. It was founded by Milton Subotsky and Max Rosenberg. Amicus is best
known for its anthology films or portmateau films. Notable films include, Dr. Terrors House of Horrors(1964), and
The House that Dripped Blood(1970).
Tigon Films
Tigon films was founded by Tony Tenser in 1966. It is most famous for its horror films, notably, Witchfinder General(1968), Blood
on Satan's claw(1971), and The Creeping Flesh(1971). The company produced horror films in a similar style to that of Hammer films.
